Sarah Game MLC will take the fight for better northern suburbs road infrastructure to State Parliament on Wednesday, 16 September, backing a community campaign supported by more than 10,000 signatures.
Family First Member of the Legislative Council Sarah Game will move a motion calling for greater cooperation between all levels of government to address mounting road and infrastructure pressures across the rapidly growing City of Playford.
The motion recognises the work of the Playford Growth Infrastructure Campaign, led by MacDonald Park resident Bronwyn “Bronnie” Coulter, which has collected more than 10,000 signatures calling for urgent investment in roads across Adelaide's north.
“When around 10 people a day are moving into Playford, governments cannot keep approving growth without planning the roads and infrastructure needed to support it.
“You can't build thousands of new homes and simply hope the existing roads will cope. Growth without infrastructure is not good planning.”
Ms Game's motion calls attention to a range of infrastructure priorities identified by the community, including duplication of Curtis Road and Womma Road, improvements to Heaslip Road, upgrades to Northern Expressway exit ramps, and improvements to Main North Road.
It also welcomes government investment in the Curtis Road level crossing project while arguing that the broader road network must be considered.
“The investment in the Curtis Road level crossing is welcome, but we cannot spend hundreds of millions fixing one bottleneck only to push congestion further down the road,” Ms Game said.
“We need a whole-of-road solution that recognises the role Curtis Road, Womma Road, Heaslip Road and Main North Road now play in servicing some of South Australia's fastest-growing communities.
“For local families, this isn't an abstract infrastructure debate. These are the roads they use every day to get their children to school, travel to work and get home safely.”
The Playford Growth Infrastructure Campaign began in 2024 and passed the 10,000 signature milestone in late 2025.Ms Game praised Ms Coulter and the volunteers behind the campaign for ensuring the concerns of northern suburbs residents were heard.
“Bronnie Coulter and the Playford Growth Infrastructure Campaign have done an extraordinary amount of grassroots work,” Ms Game said. “The north cannot be treated as an afterthought. If governments encourage tens of thousands of people to make these communities their home, they have a responsibility to ensure the infrastructure is there to support them.
“Family First wants growing communities to be places where families can thrive. That means safe roads, sensible planning and infrastructure delivered alongside new housing .not years after families have moved in.
“Ten thousand signatures should be impossible for any government to ignore.”
Ms Game's motion acknowledges that all three levels of government have a role to play and calls on the State Government to work alongside community organisations such as the Playford Growth Infrastructure Campaign to improve traffic flow and meet future growth.
Members of the Playford community are expected to attend Parliament House on Wednesday, 16 September as the motion is debated.
