The building blocks of an extraordinary LEGO story are falling into place, as one of Australia’s largest private LEGO collections heads to auction estimated to be worth up to a quarter of a million dollars, poising it to be one of the largest collections ever sold.

An assembly of one of the largest and most valuable private LEGO collections ever offered in Australia is online now with Lloyds Auctions releasing the single collector’s lifetime LEGO collection in an extremely rare and unreserved auction series.

Built over decades by a passionate private collector, the collection spans more than 2,000 LEGO sets and over one million individual pieces, with the majority still brand new and factory sealed. Around two‑thirds of the collection consists of long‑retired sets, making this a highly desirable and valuable once‑in‑a‑generation opportunity for collectors.

“This is the largest single LEGO collection we’ve ever brought to auction,” said Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer at Lloyds Auctions. “The sheer scale is remarkable, but what really sets it apart is the concentration of sealed, retired and highly sought‑after sets. You simply don’t see collections of this calibre come to market.”

The collection reads like a hall of fame for LEGO enthusiasts, covering many of the brand’s most collectable themes including Star Wars, Batman, Harry Potter, Marvel, Disney and Racers. Many of the Star Wars sets are now considered extremely rare, with values continuing to rise globally.

Headlining the sale is the original Star Wars UCS Star Destroyer, a flagship LEGO collectable that is expected to sell for tens of thousands of dollars. Others like The Simpsons House, Kwik‑E‑Mart and Queen Anne’s Revenge pirate ship which are highly prized by collectors worldwide and may sell for similar figures.

“With LEGO now firmly established as a serious collectable category, demand for quality retired sets has never been stronger,” Hames said. “This collection delivers exactly what the global LEGO market is chasing.”

Large scale private collections of this size rarely come to an unreserved public auction.

With all lots offered unreserved, bidding has already attracted strong interest from collectors across Australia and internationally. The seven‑part auction format allows bidders multiple opportunities to secure rare pieces from a single private collection released all at once.

The collection will be sold across seven online auctions, closing daily from the 20th of April, with every lot offered completely unreserved. Bidding is live now, with more auctions being published daily due to the size of the collection.
