800 infectious disease and immunisation experts meeting in Melbourne to share latest science and research

More than 800 experts meet this week to share the latest science and research into all types of infectious diseases and vaccination responses, including respiratory health, regional threats like bat-borne viruses, environmental racism, and public health challenges five years since the pandemic.
The Communicable Diseases and Immunisation Conference (CDIC) runs 15 – 17 June meeting at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne/Naarm and online, and is organised by the peak body, Public Health Association of Australia.
Media are invited to attend in person, or virtually. Interviews can be arranged.
The program is here and includes an entire session on Monday morning devoted to the new Australian Centre for Disease Control, featuring its Director-Gen Prof Zoe Wainer.
The closing plenary on Wed 17 June is a debate on "Influencers are more impactful than experts in changing public health". Debate speakers include former Australian Chief Medical Officer Prof Paul Kelly, independent member for Kooyong, Dr Monique Ryan MP, and infectious diseases physician A/Prof. Sanjay Senanayake from the Australian National University.
