ABRACADABRA, AUSTRALIA: BRISBANE'S THEATRE OF MAGIC GOES GLOBAL
Theatre of Magic
From Bowen Bills, Brisbane to Broadway, Boston and Beyond – this magic show is on a roll
One of Brisbane’s most unique and successful entertainment exports, Theatre of Magic (T.O.M), is on a phenomenal roll, casting spells across Australia and now, the globe.
In a dazzling hat trick of achievements:
- T.O.M has just received Trip Advisor’s prestigious Travellers' Choice Award, placing it among the top 10% of attractions worldwide;
- It’s gearing up to open its third Australian location in Melbourne this September;
- And in August, it will open its doors internationally in Boston, taking the magic global;
- All this, while co-creator Christopher Wayne just made history as the first Australian magician with a solo show off-Broadway.
From its intimate, velvet-draped home at Rydges Fortitude Valley, and its regional stronghold at Toowoomba’s Empire Theatre, the next chapters of this magical empire are now to be celebrated: a leap across the Atlantic to Boston’s prestigious Theatre District, and south to Melbourne’s Victoria Hotel.
The new golden age of MAGIC
T.O.M was born from a bold idea: to create a magic experience so world-class and immersive, it would rival the legendary Magic Castle in LA, but in Brisbane.
“We wanted to create something truly unique in Brisbane that could set a world standard,” said co-creator Christopher Wayne, also known for his Las Vegas smash hit The Naked Magicians and family hit Showmen. “Now, that vision is expanding, and we’re humbled and amazed by the response.”
“We’ve spent years saying that Australia is home to some of the world’s best performers. Now, the world is catching up,” said Wayne. “We’ve worked hard to take audiences back to the golden age of live entertainment. This isn’t just a tourist attraction, this is Brisbane’s most magical night out, and now it’s Toowoomba, and soon to be Boston and Melbourne’s,” said Wayne.
At the heart of the magic are three of Australia's most lauded illusionists:
- Christopher Wayne, producer, Vegas veteran, and Broadway breaker
- Josh Norbido, card master, film consultant (Ocean's 9, Poker Face), and recent winner of Best Magic Podcast and Top 5 Close-Up Magicians in the World
- And The Amazing Nigel, Australia’s own Professor of Magic and a globally loved corporate entertainer.
Joining the team to lead Melbourne’s magical chapter is Nick Kay, one of the world’s most acclaimed sleight-of-hand artists, who will headline Theatre of Magic Melbourne.
From Bowen Bills, Brisbane to Broadway, and Beyond
More than just a magic show, T.O.M has become a creative hub and cult experience. Its weekly sold-out performances feature a rotating lineup of Australia’s finest magicians and international guest stars. It’s drawn celebrity fans including world famous magician Teller, Joe Brumm (creator of Bluey), band Sheppard and others.
With its intimate 40-seat venue styled like an old-world library, complete with candlelight and cocktails, Theatre of Magic has redefined what live magic can be: personal, powerful, and unforgettable.
“We’ve made the night all about the audience experience. It’s close-up, world-class magic just inches from your face, and it sells out every week,” Wayne said.
“When Brisbane talent makes it big, they usually leave. We’re staying—and bringing the world to Brisbane’s front door.”
From Bowen Hills to the stages of New York and Boston, and soon to Melbourne’s cultural heart—T.O.M is flying high, one illusion at a time.
