Advisers turn to structured products amid escalating Middle East tensions

Recent market volatility is driving broader adviser interest in structured products, according to Australian wealth-tech platform Stropro

The company says demand is being supported by advisers seeking more defined investment outcomes, improved downside management and efficient yield generation in uncertain market conditions.

Importantly, Stropro says the increase is not only being driven by existing structured product users increasing activity, but also by new flow from advisers who have historically had limited to no exposure to structured products.

Ben Streater, Co-Founder and COO of Stropro, said the shift points to a broader evolution in the Australian advice market.

“In periods of uncertainty, advisers and investors tend to place greater value on defined outcomes, downside management and efficient yield generation,” Streater said.

“What is particularly interesting is that the growth is not just coming from the traditional users of structured products. We’re also seeing new flow from advisers who have historically had limited to no exposure to the space.”

Streater said this suggested structured products were becoming more relevant to a broader segment of the advice market, particularly as advisers looked for additional tools to navigate more complex market conditions and deliver more tailored portfolio outcomes.

He said improved access to issuers, infrastructure and specialist support was also helping advisers incorporate structured solutions in a more practical and scalable way.

“As the market continues to evolve, we think outcome-based investing and greater product precision will become increasingly important. Structured products are becoming a more relevant part of that conversation.”
