Agtecnic - Unveils the Evolution of Precision In-Crop Targeted Spot Spraying
Australian agricultural technology developer and manufacturer Agtecnic has announced its latest advancement in precision weed control: upcoming "green-on-green" targeted spot spraying capabilities for its SenseSpray® platform, allowing operators to identify and eliminate weeds within actively growing crops.
Expanding on SenseSpray's patent-pending "green-on-brown" technology which uses RGB cameras to identify weeds against soil or stubble backgrounds, this upcoming feature will deliver year-round capability. This allows farmers to target weeds across multiple seasons, significantly enhancing environmental efficiency and lowering operational costs.
"Precision in-crop targeted weed control has long been a priority on our long-term roadmap and a frequent request from SenseSpray users," explained Rob Johnson, Co-Founder of Agtecnic. "We are thrilled to announce this advancement and look forward to the substantial advantages it will deliver to the broader agricultural sector."
Seamless Integration and Broader System Compatibility
In addition to its standalone advancements, Agtecnic is expanding the versatility of SenseSpray through compatibility with industry leading third-party pulse width modulation (PWM) rate control systems. The new integrations are through collaborations with CapstanAG (PinPoint 3) and
Ag Leader (RightSpot).
Furthermore, SenseSpray will feature further compatibility with the future launch of CNH’s Aim Command FLEX II and IntelliSpray II "Base+Boost" rate control feature. This capability enables a low-rate blanket application across a field while automatically boosting the chemical volume precisely over detected weeds, optimising weed management and chemical usage.
For sprayers without external PWM systems, Agtecnic is currently developing and field testing a native SenseSpray PWM nozzle control option that includes individual nozzle control, speed and turn compensation. The proprietary solution will add support for 25 cm (10-inch) nozzle spacing via specialised solenoid kits.
New sprayer specific kits have also been in development for Horsch LEEB VT and VL sprayers along with Case IH Patriot® 50 series 120ft bifold booms with a new boom bracket kit that reduces weight and simplifies installation. These developments allow growers to retrofit current equipment or equip new machinery for maximum precision.
Comprehensive feature details and release dates will be shared following the conclusion of field testing and product validation.
