Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Welcomes Federal Response to Islamophobia
THE AHMADIYYA MUSLIM COMMUNITY, AUSTRALIA
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Australia has welcomed the Federal Government's response to the Special Envoy's report on Islamophobia and has offered to assist in supporting its implementation.
A spokesperson for the Community said the measures recognised the importance of ensuring all Australians can live, work and practise their faith free from discrimination.
"Australian Muslims want what every Australian wants: to raise their families, contribute to society and practise their faith in peace. We welcome measures that strengthen social cohesion and mutual understanding."
The Community particularly welcomed the establishment of an Islamophobia Education Taskforce and the review of how Muslim Australians and their contributions are represented in the national curriculum.
"Education is where many misconceptions are challenged. Australians should know that Muslims have been part of this country's story for more than 130 years."
The first Ahmadi Muslim arrived in Australia in 1896 as a cameleer, joining thousands of Muslim cameleers who helped connect and develop inland Australia before Federation.
Today, members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community contribute through blood donation drives, humanitarian initiatives, disaster relief efforts, interfaith engagement and community service programs across the country.
"We are not seeking special treatment. We are offering our experience, our networks and our commitment to helping build a stronger Australia for everyone."
The Community hosts Jalsa Salana Australia, the nation's largest annual Muslim convention, which will be held from 2–4 October 2026 at Masjid Baitul Huda, Marsden Park, Sydney, bringing together thousands of Australians and international guests for a weekend of discussion, reflection and community engagement.
