24 May 2025 – In response to the recent floods in Taree, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Australia (AMYA), in direct collaboration with Humanity First Australia, is deploying a relief team to support affected communities.

Approximately 25 youth volunteers are travelling to the region this weekend, with the first group delivering non-perishable supplies. Additional aid and assistance are being coordinated in the days ahead.

This is not the first time AMYA has stepped forward to support the Taree community. In 2019, the same youth group travelled to the area to assist residents during the devastating bushfires, helping with clean-up efforts and offering support to those impacted. That same spirit of service continues today, with the group once again standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of Taree.

“Service to humanity is a core tenet of our faith” said Adnan Qadir, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Australia. “Our young members are always ready to assist in times of crisis, whether it is by distributing essential supplies or helping to clean up and rebuild. We are proud to be working directly with Humanity First to bring both comfort and practical help to the people of Taree.”

Dr Noor Aftab, Vice Chairman and Director of Fundraising at Humanity First Australia, added, “The damage in Taree is confronting, but Australians have always stood together in times of hardship. Our collaboration with AMYA ensures that this response is both swift and sustained. Humanity First has a strong presence in supporting vulnerable Australians, including providing weekly meals and essential items to those in need. This trip is part of our ongoing commitment to standing by communities in times of adversity.”

This joint effort reflects the shared values of compassion, service, and unity that both AMYA and Humanity First Australia uphold. As the teams arrive in Taree, their focus will be on offering practical support, empathy, and a reminder that no community is ever left behind.
