All-female dirt bike crew tackles two-day bush trail in a ride for freedom

An all-female dirt bike crew has revved their engines and blazed a bush trail in a two-day adventure from Nowra to Batemans Bay, riding for a cause far greater than the journey itself.

The Mad Maidens took on the challenge as part of Tread on Trafficking, a national movement encouraging Australians to turn physical challenges into life-saving impact. Proceeds from the campaign support Destiny Rescue, a non-profit organisation committed to rescuing children worldwide from human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Over two days, the crew rode more than 280 kilometres across some of the South Coast’s most challenging terrain, with Mad Maidens member Rachel Spinelli saying the group wanted to use their unique skills to support a cause that matters deeply to them.

“Tread on Trafficking is such an important cause to rally around,” Rachel said. “Most people take part by walking or running, but being a dirt bike crew, we knew we could bring something a little different. Riding together as a team felt like a powerful way to show up for kids who deserve freedom and safety.”

“No one should ever be subjected to trafficking or sexual exploitation, let alone children. If even just one child is rescued and given freedom because of this ride, then every moment will have been absolutely worth it.”

The presence of an all-female crew taking action for a cause that supports vulnerable children, often young girls, was especially powerful for Destiny Rescue's Chief Operations Officer Geoff Harrison, who praised the Mad Maidens for using their platform to drive change.

“The Mad Maidens are a force - not just on the trail, but in their commitment to stand up for something they believe in,” Geoff said. “This kind of grassroots support is what fuels real rescue. Every dollar raised helps us reach and help more children, faster.”

The Mad Maidens’ efforts have raised more than $4,000 to date, with donations continuing to come in as supporters rally behind their cause. All proceeds from Tread on Trafficking will directly support Destiny Rescue’s operations and aftercare programs, helping children stay free, heal, and build new futures.
