The race for Australia’s greatest bull riding buckle is heating up after Nowra’s sold out event on the weekend which saw Thomas Hudson from Dungog take the win, with Queenslander Nash Mellers from Gracemere second, and in equal third and fourth, fellow Queensland Zane Hall from Athol, and Alison Aguiar from Brazil.
Next up is Mackay with bull riding’s best of the best heading to the north Queensland sugar city to compete over two nights – this Friday and Saturday, October 3 and 4. Adding serious country kudos to the event is acclaimed country sensation James Johnston, who takes to the stage on Saturday night. The ‘Raised Like That’, Golden Guiter winner and ARIA-nominated star is set to bring the anthems for the night.
The results from Nowra see Zane Hall and Alison Aguiar enter the Top 5 of the 2025 PBR Monster Energy Tour Grand Finals Race, one that will be decided in Townsville over October 31 and November 1.
Mareeba cowboy Kurt Shephard continues to dominate, holding his lead at the top of the standings to on 1,876.33points, with Brazil’s Luan Crystian Camara on 1,588.50 and Willow Tree bull rider Clint Glass on 953 points. Zane Hall now holds fourth place on 890.33 and Alison Aguiar sits on 851.
“We are at the business end of the 2025 competition, and every ride matters. Anything could happen over the next few weeks, making the Grand Finals in Townsville set to be the ultimate bull riding showdown,” said PBR Australia General Manager Glen Young.
