Now for Nowra:

Australia’s best bull riders headed to Nowra for the final buck before Origin teams are announced

Australia’s best bull riders are headed to NOWRA on Saturday May 9 in what will be the final buckfest before the 2026 PBR Origin Series teams are announced, so every ride will count and eight seconds has never been more important! Stills and vision here

Leading the charge into Nowra is Australia’s current number one bull rider and 2025 Gold Buckle holder, Mareeba’s Kurt Shephard (QLD), joined by last year’s third- and fourth-place finishers, Zane Hall of Athol (QLD) and Brazil’s Alison Aguiar.

Oberon’s Jack Rowlandson, Dungog’s Thomas Hudson, Tumut’s Dylan Weir and Walcha’s Tyson Smith will all be looking for solid rides and possible Blues selection, while Beaudesert brothers Ky and Jay Borgerho, Miriam Vale’s Ethan Coster, in form after taking the Toowoomba Meatstock, and newcomer Dawson Foden from Moura are looking for maroon jerseys.

The event will feature the newly introduced Challenger Series event as well as the next generation of PBR stars in the Can-Am Junior Academy.

“With Origin aspirations looming, Nowra is the final event for our bull riders to perform and find themselves selected for Origin,” said PBR Australia Managing Director Glen Young.

“The fiercely contested PBR Origin Series returns in 2026 after the Blues made history claiming their first-ever title last year; and the mighty Maroons are out for revenge. Origin begins in Newcastle on May 30, before heading to Brisbane on June 6, and culminating in Sydney at the TikTok Entertainment Centre on August 1, but it’s Nowra that will make or break riders’ dreams!”

“Each Origin Event will have $50,000 in prizemoney, making it $150K over the Series. In addition to this the Cowboy of Origin (the rider with the highest aggregate over 3 events) will also receive a $30,000 bonus. Nowra is a pivotal event in the whole PBR Australia season,” said Young.
