Australians are now spending more time and money on their wellbeing than ever before. In fact, our wellness economy has reached an estimated $196 billion AUD, growing 10.9 per cent over the last few years[1], and ranking Australia 10th in the world for the size of its wellness economy.

A key trend within the current wellness space is people opting for non-invasive, evidence-informed experiences that target both mental and physical restoration. This trend is what led to Australia’s first immersive sound medicine studio - Frequency Lab - opening in Sydney.

The studio is located in Sydney’s Inner West, in the suburb of Newtown, and offers sound therapy sessions that are grounded in neuroscience and frequency research.

The classes immerse customers in sound, vibration, and light therapy converging to create an experience proven to regulate the nervous system, restore balance and mental clarity. The experience offers live sessions with trained sound facilitators that combine ancient instruments with modern frequency technology, including custom-designed sonic waterbeds and light meditation systems, helping to induce deep relaxation and support cognitive and emotional recovery.

The sessions are themed based on the outcome attendees are looking to reach, where Replenish, Release, Restore, and Reconnect are tailored to promote recovery, emotional release, and mental clarity, while Empower and Expand guide participants toward focus, strength, and higher states of consciousness as well as full and new moon events each month, tapping into lunar energy. Every session is grounded in frequency science and crafted to help the body and mind recalibrate in a calm, immersive environment.

Frequency Lab founder, Kim Williams says, “I am so excited to be bringing this concept to Newtown in Sydney’s Inner West and Australia for the first time.“

“Every sound is a measurable frequency, and the human body is built to respond to it. By applying specific vibrations, we can gently influence brainwave activity and nervous system function, a concept increasingly validated by new neuroscientific research.”

“At Frequency Lab, we’re putting that research into practice in a way that the wellbeing-curious Australian can directly experience for themselves, and we’re so thrilled to be at the forefront of this emerging global practice in Australia”

Williams is an experienced wellness entrepreneur and founder of Buddha Bar Healing Clinic. She created Frequency Lab after discovering sonic vibration technology in Bali in 2024. The studio now brings this emerging science to Australian shores through group and private sessions.
