AXS:NMG High-Grade Gold Intercepts Extend Crown Prince Mineralisation at Depth, Supporting Underground Growth Potential
Jane Morgan Management
New Murchison Gold Limited (ASX: NMG) is pleased to report high-grade gold intercepts from extensional drilling beneath the Crown Prince Gold Mine, further demonstrating strong underground development potential below the current open pit operation.
Results from recent diamond and RC drilling confirm the continuation of high-grade mineralisation well below the planned pit base, reinforcing the scale and growth potential of the Crown Prince system.
The standout intercept from hole NGGRCDD1184 represents the deepest ore-grade mineralisation encountered at Crown Prince to date, returning:
-
3.2m @ 48.9g/t Au from 330m, including
-
0.35m @ 345.5g/t Au from 331.2m
This intercept is located approximately 190m vertically below the designed base of the current pit and lies outside the existing resource envelope, highlighting significant potential for resource expansion at depth.
Further drilling has intersected multiple high-grade zones across the Crown Prince system, including:
-
13m @ 13.3g/t Au from 164m (incl. 2m @ 72.0g/t Au)
-
8m @ 12.3g/t Au from 216m (incl. 3m @ 27.4g/t Au)
-
5m @ 12.3g/t Au from 198m (incl. 1m @ 50.9g/t Au)
-
14m @ 3.8g/t Au from 197m (incl. 1m @ 29.4g/t Au)
-
20m @ 1.9g/t Au from 205m
These results collectively confirm a robust and continuous mineralised system extending beneath the current open pit, supporting NMG’s strategy to transition toward underground mining.
Drilling has identified multiple mineralised zones within key structural corridors, with geological interpretation suggesting steeply plunging high-grade shoots associated with the main ore body (MOB). This provides a strong foundation for future resource growth and mine life extension.
Underground Growth Strategy Advancing
The current drilling program was specifically designed to test extensions of the Crown Prince mineralisation at depth and evaluate the potential for future underground mining operations.
Importantly, the latest results:
-
Extend mineralisation well beyond the current resource limits
-
Confirm continuity of high-grade gold zones at depth
-
Provide key inputs into upcoming resource and ore reserve updates
-
Support the Company’s transition from open pit to underground development
The Crown Prince Gold Mine, located approximately 22km north-west of Meekatharra in Western Australia, remains NMG’s flagship producing asset and a central pillar of its near-term growth strategy.
Alex Passmore NMG CEO Commented:
“We are pleased to report further high-grade gold intercepts at our flagship Crown Prince gold mine where operations in the open pit continue to progress well. The particularly high-grade diamond drill intercept was from an extension to the ‘main ore body or MOB zone’ at depth which is to form part of the Company’s future underground mining plans. These plans are being developed presently and will be released to the market as part of an ore reserves update shortly.”
Next Steps
NMG will continue drilling to further define the extent of mineralisation at depth, with additional diamond drilling planned to refine the structural model and support resource conversion.
The Company is progressing workstreams toward an updated Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve, which will incorporate these latest results and underpin future underground development planning.
