Brisbane Set for a Sold Out Return of Australia's Toughest Endurance Event, Kokoda Challenge
Kokoda Youth Foundation
Australia’s largest team endurance event returns to Brisbane this Saturday, 13 June with a sold-out Kokoda Challenge setting off from Brookfield Recreation Reserve.
Just 30 minutes from Brisbane’s CBD, adventure awaits as thousands of participants take on the epic 18, 30 or 48km course in teams of 2-5 through the rugged trails of D’Aguilar National Park, pushing their limits in the ultimate test of endurance, navigating creek crossings, challenging hills, and bush trails together.
The eagerly awaited annual event has brought together hundreds of teams of families, friends, corporate groups as well as a record-breaking 440+ school teams, all united by a shared purpose to challenge themselves in support of youth programs that are transforming young lives.
Every step taken in the Kokoda Challenge helps support a mission that goes far beyond the finish line, raising vital funds for the Kokoda Youth Foundation’s experiential, outdoor adventure-based programs that have been transforming the lives of young Australians for over 20 years – fully funded by the Challenge and delivered at no cost to families involved. The event also pays tribute to the legacy of the Australian soldiers who served in the 1942 Kokoda Campaign in Papua New Guinea.
It is this combination of purpose, personal growth and connection to the Kokoda Spirit that inspires participants like Shane, a 48km challenger to return year after year.
“I’m taking on the Kokoda Challenge for the fifth year because it’s far more than a physical event. With five 48km events and two 96km events behind me, I’m driven by the chance to test my limits while modelling resilience, perseverance and teamwork.”
Hot off the back of the Kokoda Youth Foundation’s huge Sunshine Coast Kokoda Challenge event in May, this weekend’s Brisbane event takes the baton as leg two of the epic 2026 Kokoda Challenge event series, followed by the standout Gold Coast (18-19 July) event and return to Sydney (19-20 September), following last year’s debut.
We invite your media outlet to help shine a spotlight on this highly anticipated event and the Kokoda Youth Foundation’s ongoing mission to transform the lives of young Australians.
