CA ANZ APPOINTS PROFESSOR RICHARD HOLDEN AS CHIEF ECONOMIST
Chartered Accountants ANZ (CA ANZ) is pleased to announce the appointment of highly regarded economist Professor Richard Holden as CA ANZ’s Chief Economist.
Professor Holden, from the UNSW Business School of Economics, will support CA ANZ’s advocacy and government affairs teams in some longer-term economic commentary to build a better Australia.
CA ANZ Chief Executive Officer, Ainslie van Onselen, said the appointment will enable the membership body to broaden its influence on key areas of policy reform.
“CA ANZ is often asked for its views on economic matters such as interest rates and inflation, especially heading into a federal election,” Ms van Onselen said.
“Professor Holden’s engagement will enable us to participate more fulsomely in these public debates, strengthening our credentials and capabilities in this space.”
CA ANZ’s Group Executive of Advocacy, Simon Grant, said the professor is a welcome addition to the body’s team of advocacy experts.
“We look forward to working with Professor Holden over the coming months and increasing our advocacy efforts for policy reforms that matter most to our members,” Mr Grant said.
Professor Holden is a Professor of Economics at UNSW Business School, Director of the Manos Innovation Lab in Education at UNSW Business School, Co-Director of the New Economic Policy Initiative, and President of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia.
He has previously been on the faculty at the University of Chicago and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received an AM and a PhD in economics from Harvard University and his research focuses on contract theory, organisational economics, law and economics, and political economy.
Professor Holden’s engagement commenced this month.
