Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia (CCAA) has congratulated The Hon. Ben Carroll MP on his appointment as Premier of Victoria and reaffirmed the industry's commitment to working constructively with the Victorian Government to support the State's housing, infrastructure, renewable energy and economic development priorities.
CCAA Chief Executive Officer Michael Kilgariff said Victoria's heavy construction materials industry looked forward to working with the new Premier and his Government to ensure the State has the essential materials needed to deliver its ambitious housing and infrastructure agenda.
"On behalf of CCAA and our members, I congratulate Premier Carroll on his appointment and wish him every success as he takes on this important responsibility," Mr Kilgariff said.
"Victoria's cement, concrete and aggregates industry forms the foundation of the State's construction supply chain. Every home, road, bridge, hospital, school, renewable energy project and major infrastructure investment depends on a secure and sustainable supply of these essential materials."
The heavy construction materials industry contributes more than $3.17 billion to Victoria's economy and supports more than 15,600 jobs, while nationally the sector contributes $20.7 billion to GDP and supports approximately 113,000 jobs.
Mr Kilgariff said CCAA's recently released 2026 Victorian Election Policy Priorities outlined practical actions to strengthen Victoria's construction supply chain and ensure the industry can continue supporting the State's long-term growth.
"Central to these priorities is the development of a comprehensive Victorian Heavy Construction Materials Plan that provides a coordinated, long-term approach to securing the resources and infrastructure needed to support Victoria's future."
"That includes protecting access to strategically important extractive resources, streamlining planning and environmental approvals, improving freight and heavy vehicle access, and supporting decarbonisation through procurement reform and greater use of performance-based specifications."
"These are practical reforms that will strengthen supply chain resilience, improve investment certainty and help ensure Victoria can deliver more homes and infrastructure at the pace and scale required."
Mr Kilgariff said the Victorian Government's Joint Ministerial Statement on Extractive Resources had established an important foundation for collaboration between government and industry, and CCAA looked forward to continuing that work with the new Government.
"Meeting Victoria's housing, infrastructure and emissions reduction objectives will require long-term planning across the entire construction supply chain," he said.
"CCAA looks forward to working closely with Premier Carroll and his Ministers to ensure Victoria has a reliable, affordable and sustainable supply of the heavy construction materials that underpin the State's economic prosperity and future development."
