CDU solidifies presence in South Australia with Associate Vice-Chancellor Adelaide appointment

Charles Darwin University (CDU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Lisa Papatraianou as the new Associate Vice-Chancellor Adelaide.
Professor Papatraianou is a highly respected academic and leader in teacher education, with a track record of innovation, quality, and impact. She has worked at CDU for over 11 years and grew up in Adelaide.
Professor Lisa Papatraianou is an experienced teacher educator and researcher, whose work focuses on improving the quality and sustainability of the teaching profession through innovation in work-integrated learning (WIL), employment-based pathways, and professional experience design, particularly within regional and remote schooling contexts.
Professor Papatraianou said CDU has strong connections in South Australia and this appointment solidifies the University’s presence in Adelaide, allowing for more educational opportunities and genuine connections for our online student cohort from the region.
“CDU has had a growing presence across South Australia since our Centre opened in 2014 so much so, we have outgrown our space,” Professor Papatraianou said.
“I am excited to be able to lead the team here and continue to help providing exceptional student support and services to our students locally.”
CDU Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Scott Bowman said Professor Papatraianou was committed to strengthening community and industry partnerships, and leading high-quality student and staff experiences.
“I am confident that as the Associate Vice-Chancellor Adelaide, Professor Papatraianou will bring her commitment to excellence in education and professional experience that will support our South Australian cohort” Professor Bowman said.
“Professor Papatraianou has strong networks across communities and is focused on building CDU’s profile and partnerships in South Australia.”
Professor Papatraianou will lead the CDU Adelaide campus, she has extensive expertise in professional experience, workforce pathways, and school-university partnerships, she commenced in the role in September 2025.
