Held at Sydney Olympic Park this year it enters its 17th year and will showcase more than 70 stalls, a line-up of musical talent and food from all around the continent.

Delicious cuisine from across the African continent, bold and colourful fashion, interactive drumming and dance sessions, cultural workshops, and A-list performers is what you can expect for the Africultures festival this year.

The festival is returning to Cathy Freeman Park at Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday 25 October with a jam-packed program including food, fashion, music, and dance.

Festival Director, Fatma Mohamed said “Coming to Africultures is cheaper than going to Africa! In one day you can experience the diverse cultures from across the continent. It is an important cultural event which celebrates the diversity of African cultures, food, fashion and talent across the community’’.

“This is an opportunity to get a feel of Africa in Australia – from small businesses trading as fashion, jewelry and artist market stalls, to performers across both modern Afrobeats and traditional vocals, dance and poetry, to the array of cuisines stretching from East, West, North and Southern Africa’’.

The festival will feature the bustling African Market Place, Nile Food Court, Watotos (Kids) Corner, and exclusive drumming and dance workshop, as well as the crowd favorite, the Fashion Parade where festival attendees showcase their traditional and vibrant modern outfits.

“Over the years, Africultures has been a tool for cross-cultural understanding and social cohesion. The 2023 report on the festival's social impact shows that non-African attendees experienced a deepened appreciation for African cultures, promoting cross-cultural understanding and integration”.

“It’s a one-of-a-kind experience which immerses you into one of the most beautiful parts of the world and is a wonderful example of an event where people from many cultures and places come together to celebrate diversity”.

Africultures is heading into its seventeenth year and attracts thousands of visitors from all over the country each year.

The event is run by a passionate group of volunteers and all ticket proceeds will be going towards festival expenses.
