Venue Director Aarron Baker Marks Pride Month By Sharing Thoughts on LGBTQIA+ Weddings (Including His Own)

For Immediate Release

Aarron Baker, co-director of event venue Canvas House in Melbourne, has shared an exclusive interview on his wedding and marriage to husband Robert, with tips for couples planning their own LGBTQIA+ weddings in Melbourne.

A year on from his own wedding at Canvas House, Aarron reflected on the planning process and thoughtful details behind the couple’s outfits and decor, the decision to work with LGBTQIA+ community vendors, and memorable highlights from the day. He brings a light-hearted approach to wedding planning, grounded in experience and enthusiasm, and offers practical tips for queer couples.

The top priority for weddings hosted at Canvas House is to celebrate a union of love. In this interview, Aarron explains how he and his husband were able to do just that, and how other LGBTQIA+ couples can too.

Aarron’s Expert Tips: Planning LGBTQIA+ Weddings In Melbourne

Aarron shares his thoughts and tips for couples in the LGBTQIA+ community thinking about or planning to get married. Describing his wedding as one of the most ‘magical’, ‘electrified’, ‘extraordinary’ experiences in his life, he suggests that although marriage is in no way necessary, it’s an opportunity for LGBTQIA+ couples to ‘feel the love reverberate throughout the room’.

As a venue manager, wedding planner, and gay man, Aarron believes that anyone who ‘doesn't believe in the union of love that you two have [is] not meant to be there’. The Canvas House team is well trained in handling potentially difficult situations with discretion and care. They’re also passionate about incorporating personal and cultural traditions – or bending them – to create a safe, relaxed environment for anyone who wants to get married in their venue.
