CHRIS & RICH ROBINSON TO ATTEND MELBOURNE OPENING OF ROSS HALFIN EXHIBITION
Behind The Gallery Announces Sydney Pop-Up To Meet Demand
Melbourne / Sydney, Australia — 31st March 2026
Behind The Gallery has announced that Chris and Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes will attend the opening night of The Black Crowes: Through the Lens of Ross Halfin in Melbourne this Wednesday 1st April.
Their appearance marks a rare opportunity for fans and collectors to experience the exhibition alongside the artists whose story is captured through the lens of Ross Halfin.
The Melbourne exhibition features a curated selection of Halfin’s photography spanning decades of collaboration with the band, including a number of rarely seen works and a selection of prints co-signed by Chris and Rich Robinson.
All fans wanting to attend will need to RSVP at [email protected]
Reflecting on the relationship that produced the work featured in the exhibition, Halfin said:
“I’ve been photographing The Black Crowes more or less since they started and after all these years we’re still working together. This exhibition features some of the highlights of our long and enjoyable collaboration and includes many of Chris & Rich’s favourite pictures.”
In response to strong demand surrounding the band’s Australian tour — including the addition of a second Sydney show — Behind The Gallery will also present a limited two-day pop-up exhibition in Sydney, giving fans direct access to the collection.
The Sydney pop-up will run:
Dates: 8–9 April
Location: 465 King Street, Newtown
The pop-up will feature a tightly curated selection of works from the Melbourne exhibition, offering fans a rare opportunity to engage with Halfin’s photography in an intimate, short-run format timed to coincide with The Black Crowes’ Sydney performances.
Stephen Dallimore, founder of Behind The Gallery, said the expansion reflects the continued connection between the band and their audience.
“We are excited to be able to bring this to Sydney and showcase that long collaboration, giving fans and Collectors the chance to experience these photographs up close. Ross Halfin has documented rock history for decades, and his work with The Black Crowes captures the band at some of their most defining moments.”

About us:
About Ross Halfin
Ross Halfin is described as one of the world’s foremost rock photographers for more than four
decades. He studied fine art at Wimbledon School of Art in the 1970s, originally intending to become a painter, but found art school “too pretentious and creatively stifling.” Halfin began photographing concerts almost accidentally, sneaking cameras into shows by bands such as The Who, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Man and Free. As music magazines like Sounds, Melody Maker and NME covered the emerging punk scene, he photographed groups including The Clash, Sex Pistols, The Jam, Adam Ant, The Specials and Blondie. Over the following decades he travelled globally photographing major rock acts including Metallica, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, Kiss and Mötley Crüe, and also served as an official tour photographer for Paul McCartney, George Harrison and The Who.
His work has appeared on album covers, tour programmes, posters and numerous magazine covers,
including an image of AC/DC’s Angus Young on the first issue of Kerrang! magazine.
Beyond music photography, Halfin has also developed a strong body of travel photography, inspired by the landscape painting he studied at art college. Many of these images were later published in the
book Sojourner (2011).
Halfin has described a great photograph simply as something that “will stop somebody in their tracks.”
