CIMIC Group companies UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Neoen and Envision to construct Neoen’s 179 MW Narrogin Wind Farm in Western Australia, a project that supports the state’s energy transition and growing demand for reliable, lower-emissions power.

Located approximately 200km south-west of Perth near the towns of Narrogin and Williams, the development will comprise 23 of Envision Energy’s EN-182, 7.8 MW wind turbine generators and associated energy infrastructure.

UGL and CPB Contractors will deliver the full balance-of-plant scope to Neoen. Works include the design, supply and installation of access roads, hardstands, turbine foundations, collector circuits and a high-voltage substation.

UGL and CPB Contractors will also support Envision Energy in their scope of work covering the transportation and installation of the wind turbines and associated logistics on the project.

ACS Group and HOCHTIEF Chief Executive Officer and CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaria said:

“Neoen’s Narrogin Wind Farm will support Western Australia’s transition to cleaner energy while contributing to long-term power security. It reflects our focus on delivering essential infrastructure for major renewable energy projects that support economic growth, strengthen energy systems and create sustainable outcomes for communities.”

UGL Managing Director Sam Goldsmith said:

“This project is UGL’s 26th clean energy development and our first wind farm for Neoen, strengthening a partnership built on consistent delivery. It expands our renewable energy portfolio and demonstrates UGL’s growing role in supporting Australia’s energy transition through the delivery of generation, transmission and connection infrastructure.”

CPB Contractors Managing Director Craig Nuttall said:

“Neoen’s Narrogin Wind Farm will demonstrate our capability in complex balance-of-plant infrastructure for large-scale renewable energy developments. Working with UGL, we will bring together multiple work packages, vendors and stakeholders to deliver civil and electrical infrastructure, and draw on our experience in varying terrains and regional environments.”

The substation will include a 200MVA transformer, switch and control buildings, 220kV infrastructure, and associated systems. UGL will also deliver the 220kV switching station and a transmission line to support the project’s connection into the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) network via Western Power's existing 220kV transmission line.

UGL has a strong track record with Neoen in Australia, supporting the delivery of major projects, including Neoen’s Western Downs Battery, Collie Battery and Muchea Battery. Narrogin Wind Farm will further that experience, combining CPB Contractors’ balance-of-plant expertise with UGL’s capabilities in energy infrastructure.

Site works are scheduled to commence this quarter.
