FRIDAY 7 AUGUST

COLES DONATES 1,000 MEALS THROUGH SECONDBITE AND FOODBANK FOR EVERY GOAL SCORED IN ROUND 22

As part of the inaugural Coles Community Food Relief Appeal, for the first time, Coles will donate the equivalent of 1,000 meals for every goal scored across Round 22 of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season, which continues tonight, to support Australians experiencing food hardship.

The Round 22 initiative is a first for Coles and supports food relief partners SecondBite and Foodbank, with the more goals kicked, the more meals provided to Australians experiencing hardship. Customers can also donate if they wish to support the cause at any Coles checkout nationally from 5 August to 1 September.

Attributed to Coles Chief Executive Officer, Leah Weckert:

“This week we’ve launched the inaugural Coles Community Food Relief Appeal alongside SecondBite and Foodbank. As part of the appeal, Coles is excited to be donating the equivalent of 1,000 meals for every goal scored across Round 22 of the 2026 Toyota AFL Premiership Season to those charities.

“Through these longstanding partnerships, Coles has helped provide the equivalent of 377 million meals to people in need. This Appeal builds on that contribution and gives customers another way to help put more meals on Australian tables.”

Attributed to Sam Darcy, Western Bulldogs footballer:

“It’s great to be part of an initiative that supports Australians needing a hand. Coles is donating 1,000 meals for every goal scored across Round 22, so hopefully there are plenty of goals this weekend. The more goals scored, the more meals Coles will help provide to people in need.”

Attributed to Daniel Moorfield, SecondBite CEO:

“Every goal scored across Round 22 will deliver real impact off the field and help feed vulnerable Australians. At a time when local charities are seeing more people turn to food relief, this support will help fewer dinner tables go without a meal.”

Attributed to Kylea Tink, Foodbank Australia CEO:

“This is a simple but powerful way to turn AFL into practical support for people doing it tough, with every goal helping more meals reach Australians experiencing food hardship.”
