Conservative Liberal woman treated differently to a "moderate" Liberal man
Family First Party
No Victorian Liberal publicly said “my heart goes out to Moira” after she was falsely accused in 2023 of being a Nazi associate, but they have been quick to rally around Matthew Guy.
Ms Deeming’s allegations of assault may have been dismissed by the police but video footage showing Mr Guy’s allegedly unwelcome touch of her is there for all to see.
Family First National Director Lyle Shelton said the Victorian Liberals operated on a two-tier system.
“Deeming was unjustly expelled from the party room and left to the only recourse she had available: to clear her name by suing for defamation,” Mr Shelton said.
“She received no public support from the Victorian Liberal Party as she successfully took on former leader John Pesutto.
“She was subject to cruel and unusual punishment by the party until she finally proved her innocence and was reinstated.
“In contrast to her humiliation by the party in 2023 for speaking at a Let Women Speak event, Victorian Liberals have been quick to back Guy’s version of events over hers.
“Family First is proud of Moira’s courage and her advocacy for girls and women in the face of overwhelming opposition.
“Australia needs more parliamentarians with her courage and resolve.”
