North Sydney Council is inviting residents living in strata complexes to see how simple and rewarding sustainable living can be at the upcoming Strata Social, a free community event on Thursday 13 November, from 6.30pm at Hutley Hall, North Sydney Council Chambers.

Designed for residents and strata committees, the event will showcase inspiration from successful local projects, offer rebate information and advice and draw on Council and industry expertise to reduce energy use, cut costs and build stronger communities.

The evening will feature short presentations, interactive roundtables and networking opportunities.

North Sydney Mayor Zoë Baker said Council is committed to supporting residents on the path to sustainability:

“We all have a role to play in meeting our emissions and environmental targets – governments, businesses and residents alike. Council offers financial and practical support to help apartment communities take up energy-saving initiatives.

“What’s especially encouraging is the number of local residents and strata committees already leading the way. At the Strata Social, you’ll hear their stories and insights directly – from starting conversations with neighbours to navigating rebates and implementing upgrades. That’s the strength of our North Sydney community: people helping each other make change.”

Mayor Baker will speak at the event, alongside five keynote facilitators who will lead discussions and share practical insights:

  • Brent Clark, CEO and Founder of Wattblock, with over a decade of experience helping strata communities electrify and upgrade sustainably
  • Robert Anderson, President of Strata Community Association NSW, bringing over 30 years’ experience in the strata industry
  • Allison Benson, Principal at Kerin Benson Lawyers, with broad expertise in strata matters and advising owners corporations, lot owners and other stakeholders
  • Tim Prosser, North Sydney resident and climate tech specialist, supporting organisations to deliver on environmental, social and governance (ESG) and Net Zero goals
  • Sean McNamara, North Sydney resident, licensed strata manager and sustainability advocate, sharing lessons from his own rebate-supported building transformation

Attendees will also learn about Council’s Futureproofing Apartments and Sustainability Rebates programs, which provide tailored support to help residents implement energy, water and cost-saving improvements.
