COVID-19 inquiry: UNSW experts available for comment

UNSW experts are available to comment on the findings of the independent inquiry into Australia’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The inquiry reviewed the Commonwealth Government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic to identify lessons learned to improve Australia’s preparedness for future pandemics 

Experts from UNSW’s Medicine & Health and Business faculties were involved in consultations for the inquiry, which contributed to the report findings, and are available for interview.  

  • Professor Michael Kidd is the Director of the UNSW International Centre for Future Health Systems. He previously served as Principal Medical Advisor and Deputy Chief Medical Officer with the Australian Government Department of Health from 2020 to 2023.   • Associate Professor Holly Seale, School of Population Health, UNSW Medicine & Health. Her research focuses on the social and behavioural factors impacting engagement with infectious disease prevention strategies and covers vaccinations and pandemic preparedness.   • Professor Gigi Foster, School of Economics, UNSW Business School, has conducted significant covid-era research, including a cost-benefit analysis of lockdowns and border closures.
