Early-season snowstorm and snowmaking blitz set the stage for a fun opening weekend at Perisher, Falls Creek & Hotham
Vail Resorts Australia
Australia’s premier alpine resorts of Perisher, Falls Creek and Hotham are set to kick off the 2025 snow season in white this weekend, thanks to a powerful early-season snowstorm and a huge snowmaking effort across all three resorts.
Up to 80cm of fresh snow is expected to fall on the slopes over the long weekend and snow guns have been firing around the clock.
Guests will love the vibrant village atmospheres, and a packed calendar of opening weekend events, as well as amazing June deals making it a fantastic time to visit. It’s also the last chance to buy the 2025 Epic Australia Pass and new 2025 Epic Australia 4-Day Pass before it goes off sale on June 18. Unlock access to Perisher, Falls Creek and Hotham now, as well as international resorts, including Whistler Blackcomb for the 2025/2026 Northern Hemisphere winter, plus special discounts and benefits.
Perisher: Covered in white for opening day
After a mammoth run of snowmaking in the past 72 hours, continued freezing temps, and a dusting of natural snow, Perisher is offering skiing and boarding this Long Weekend, rolling out the (magic) carpet for our kids and beginners, as well as dropping in a mini park on Front Valley for the Perisher Parks crew. There’s also a chance the V8 will spin.
Australia’s highest music festival, the PEAK music festival, is also livening up the village over opening weekend, alongside a special Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony to bless the resort and all who come to Perisher this season.

Falls Creek: Where alpine beauty will unfold
On opening day, there will be scenic chairlift rides on Halley’s Comet, with guests able to take a special ride to the top and experience the newly refurbished Cloud 9 Restaurant, taking in the incredible views across Spion Kopje in the Great Dividing Range.
From there, the Falls Creek team is closely monitoring the forecast and stands ready to open lifts for skiing and boarding as soon as it's safe to do so, so watch this space! In the meantime, there’s no shortage of alpine fun to enjoy, retail stores are reopening, Falls Creek’s famous alpine dining returns, and Saturday night will light up with a fireworks display in the Village Bowl.

Hotham: Where the kids will glide into winter fun!
There’s plenty of snow in the forecast for Hotham this weekend, and the snow guns have been firing since May 18. First-timers and little shredders will be able to take their first turns on the snow thanks to the newly relocated Pup’s beginner carpet running - find it behind Hotham Central. With early-season deals, such as the 1.5-hour private lesson for just $149, June is a great time to visit the resort. With more snowfall and perfect snowmaking conditions in the forecast, there may be more good news to share as the weekend progresses.
