  • Richard Emery, President & CEO of Hino Motor Sales Australia, has been elected President of the Truck Industry Council (TIC) at the Annual General Meeting in Canberra, succeeding Andrew Harbison of Isuzu Trucks Australia Limited.
  • Andrew Harbison and Tom Chapman from Volvo Group Australia were elected as Vice Presidents of the TIC.
  • The TIC continues to work with government, regulators, and industry stakeholders to drive sector outcomes, recently updating its National Truck Plan policy to deliver a safer, cleaner, and more efficient truck fleet.
  • Mr Emery highlighted the importance of advocating for a balanced Road User Charge as a key priority alongside the National Truck Plan.
  • Richard Emery brings four decades of experience in the automotive sector across Australia and South East Asia, having previously served as a Director of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries and Chair of the Importers Group.

Richard Emery, President & CEO of Hino Motor Sales Australia, has been elected the President of the Truck Industry Council (TIC) at the Annual General Meeting held in Canberra.

 

He succeeds Andrew Harbison, Managing Director & CEO of Isuzu Trucks Australia Limited.

 

Mr Harbison and Tom Chapman from Volvo Group Australia were elected as Vice Presidents.

 

“I’m pleased to step in to the role and continuing to build on the approach taken by Andrew over the last years,” said Mr Emery.

 

“The truck industry is dynamic and continuing to evolve to meet the various challenges of today’s freight task.”

 

TIC, the peak industry body representing truck OEMs, importers and distributors in Australia and its members, continue to work with Government, regulators and stakeholders from across the industry to drive toward sector outcomes that meet the demands and expectations of society.

 

Late last year, TIC updated its National Truck Plan policy, designed to deliver Australia with a safer, cleaner, greener, more efficient, modern truck fleet.

 

It continues to advocate for the plan with interested parties and key stakeholders.

 

“Beyond the Truck Plan, we will work to provide valuable input to the Government regarding the pressing need for a balanced Road User Charge in the future,” he added.

 

Richard has held senior roles in the automotive sector in Australia and South East Asia over the last four decades with experience across a range of brands and markets.

 

He has previously been a Director of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries and Chair of the Importers Group.
