Experience a Classic Christmas at Como House: Nostalgia, Community, and Sustainable Festivities
National Trust Australia (Victoria)
Step into the spirit of Christmas at Como House. The National Trust of Australia (Victoria) opens its doors to embrace the magic of festive traditions reimagined for today. Running from 8 November 2024 to 8 January 2025, ‘Season’s Greetings in the House of Discovery’ brings all the charm of a Victorian Christmas with a fresh, eco-friendly twist.
In line with this sustainable spirit, guests can join in hands-on wreath-making workshops to create lasting, environmentally conscious holiday keepsakes. Led by renowned sustainable florist Rita Feldmann from the Sustainable Floristry Network, these classes offer the chance to craft elegant, all-natural wreaths, perfect for homes or as thoughtful, long-lasting gifts. Additionally, gingerbread house building and decorating sessions provide a sweet, creative outlet to make gifts that can be cherished on the table or gifted to loved ones.
Throughout the season, Family Festive Days bring friends and family together for leisurely picnics on the lush grounds and hands-on Christmas crafting sessions. Enjoy optional workshops, including mini wreath making, fragrant citrus decorations, and angel crafts on the porch. Workshops are $10 per person, with no bookings required—simply walk up and join in.
After a memorable day at Como on Sunday, December 15, continue the festivities at Como Park for the Stonnington Community Christmas Carols, where the celebration continues with music and community cheer.
The National Trust Christmas Shop offers a unique array of quality gifts and ornaments, including a signature Christmas pudding made using an original Como House recipe. Visitors can also take advantage of an onsite gift-wrapping service every weekend in December, ensuring every purchase is ready to be gifted with love and care.
Whether decorating, crafting, shopping, or simply enjoying the beauty of a historic Christmas setting, visitors are invited to make Como House part of their holiday traditions. Experience the joy of a timeless Christmas, connect with community, and create new memories to treasure in this season of discovery.
