Adelaide, SA – Leading predictive hiring software company Expr3ss! marks its 20th anniversary by returning to its roots in Adelaide to host the inaugural “Hire Tea”—a high-energy, high-tea celebration recognising South Australian companies achieving outstanding results in hiring quality staff in 7 days or less using the Expr3ss! platform.

The exclusive event takes place at the stunning new SkyCity Adelaide luxury venue and brings together top-performing recruiters and hiring managers who have embraced data-driven hiring to dramatically reduce time-to-hire. These hiring leaders are officially welcomed into the Expr3ss! 7 Day Club, a growing community of businesses that demonstrate what’s possible when recruitment is guided by speed, science, and precision.

“Adelaide is where Expr3ss! began 20 years ago, and it’s incredibly meaningful to return and celebrate how far we, and our customers, have come,” says Carolyne Burns, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Expr3ss!

“We always believed that if we could remove friction from recruiting and empower companies to find applicants who would love and flourish in their roles, we could transform hiring.

It started with a few thousand visitors a year. That became millions.  And now, more than 750 million visits have resulted in over 10.61 million applications and, by conservative estimate, more than 650,000 job hires.

A Mission Born from Belief and Bold Beginnings

The Expr3ss! story began with unwavering conviction and a leap of faith. In her mid-forties, Carolyne Burns sold everything she owned to fund the startup, driven by a powerful belief that hiring could be faster, fairer, and more effective for both employers and applicants.

At the time, the idea was bold, and the odds, steep. Carolyne took the concept to recruitment agencies, only to be turned away. Banks were hesitant to back her, and as a woman in her forties, she found doors closed more often than opened.

“This was before capital raises were fashionable, and long before women in tech or business were believed in,” she recalls. “I was told I was too old, too risky. But I knew we were onto something transformative.”

Partnering with Dr Glyn Brokensha, whose psychotherapy practice and corporate team-building work had shown consistent success, Carolyne helped create a solution rooted in behavioural science and real-world hiring challenges.

Unlike traditional hiring methods that prioritise qualifications and experience, Expr3ss! was designed to assess attitude and temperament, the “can do” and “will do” factors that often determine success in a role but don’t always show up on a CV.

“I believed in the idea so much, I risked everything to make it real,” Carolyne says.

“We weren’t just trying to fill roles, we wanted to help businesses grow by finding people who would love their work and flourish in their roles.

That means people become productive sooner, they stay longer, and staff turnover is reduced. And because we’re not just selecting people based solely on skills written in CVs, we’re making hiring fairer, especially for those who have the right attitude but haven’t had the opportunity to shine on paper. That’s the change we set out to make, and it still drives everything we do.”

Laying the Groundwork for a National Rollout

The Adelaide edition of Hire Tea is the first in a planned national series of events for 2025 and 2026, set to honour more 7 Day Club achievers across Australia. These events recognise hiring managers and recruiters who consistently demonstrate what’s possible when predictive hiring tools are used to their full potential.
