Fastlane by PayPal launches in Australia

PayPal Australia

Fastlane by PayPal, designed to help increase sales and drive customer loyalty by accelerating guest checkout, is set to launch for businesses of all sizes in Australia. Fastlane allows consumers to complete purchases in as little as one click, boosting conversion for businesses.

Lengthy checkout experiences frustrate shoppers and often lead to cart abandonment and reduced revenue for businesses. With 41% of Australian shoppers1 having abandoned an online purchase due to friction at the checkout, businesses are in need of a better solution to meet consumer expectations. To address this, PayPal developed Fastlane – a solution designed to deliver faster, easier guest checkout experiences for consumers and help merchants boost conversion.

With just a few clicks, customers can complete their purchases, greatly reducing friction and improving guest shopping experiences. Businesses using Fastlane have seen a 51%2 average increase in conversion rates among accelerated shoppers compared to those using traditional guest checkout.

Andrew Toon, General Manager Payments, PayPal Australia said, “For consumers, Fastlane makes online shopping quick, easy, and secure. By recognising shoppers and securely pre-filling their information, it removes friction from guest checkout and helps businesses drive increased conversation. With accelerated guest checkout available to businesses of all sizes, Fastlane empowers merchants to boost sales and deliver a faster, more streamlined shopping experience for their customers.”

How Fastlane by PayPal works

Fastlane helps merchants recognise consumers early in the guest checkout process by identifying by their email and then verifying with a one-time code to gain access to their saved information. Payment and shipping details are then auto-filled for faster checkout – often in as little as one click.

Fastlane is optimised for guest users – with no PayPal account required. Consumers not recognised by their email can easily opt-in to create a Fastlane profile during checkout for faster future purchases anywhere Fastlane is enabled. Fastlane integrates seamlessly into existing checkout flows, preserving a merchant’s brand by leveraging PayPal’s trust and security during checkout.

After testing Fastlane by PayPal, Roy Packer, Partner and Business Development Manager, SuperPharmacyPlus, one of Australia’s largest independently owned online pharmacies and mobility stores, said, “Innovation is at the heart of everything we do, so when I heard about Fastlane through BigCommerce, we were eager to be part of the trial. Since enabling Fastlane, we've seen a 37% increase in checkout speed and a 24% increase in conversion - clear proof that best-in-breed solutions like Fastlane can make a real impact for both our business and our customers.”

Fastlane by PayPal is in Australian merchant trials now and will be generally available in October 2025.
