Father Land Returns: Groundbreaking
podcast series shines light on rural fatherhood for Season 2

Returns Friday 4 September 2026

After an incredible first season that landed more than 26,000 downloads, national charity Motherland is bringing Father Land back for a second season - once again turning the microphone towards  rural dads, sharing real and raw stories of fatherhood and farming through the eyes of men on the land.

Hosted by award-winning entrepreneur, journalist, and Motherland founder & CEO, Stephanie Trethewey, Father Land is Australia's only podcast dedicated to rural fatherhood, a platform for unfiltered conversations about fatherhood, identity, and mental health in the bush.

Season Two will once again feature raw, deeply personal conversations, some with men who have never shared their stories publicly before, shining a light on the moments that have shaped rural fathers and their families across the country.

“Season One showed us just how much rural dads needed a space like this, and how much rural Australia needed to hear from them,” says Trethewey.

“There are moments in these interviews when a father is saying something out loud for the very first time. You can feel the weight of it. It’s an extraordinary privilege. These men are sharing the hardest parts of their lives, but also their greatest triumphs, the lessons they’ve learned, and the things that have shaped who they are as fathers, farmers and men. These are stories the country needs to hear – because there is something in them for all of us about family, farming, identity and life on the land.

SEASON TWO GUEST LINEUP

Season Two brings together a compelling lineup of eight rural dads from across Australia, including eighth-generation farmer and regenerative agriculture pioneer Charlie Arnott (NSW); award-winning country musician and horseman Tom Curtain (NT); sheep station manager, author and English Channel swimmer Brendan Cullen (NSW); former Muster Dogs star and farmer Jack Kennedy (VIC); farmer and accountant John Murdoch (NSW); RCS founder and agricultural industry pioneer Dr Terry McCosker OAM (QLD); Macka’s Australian Black Angus Beef founder Robert Mackenzie (NSW); and sheep producer and mental health advocate George Henderson (NSW).

These intimate interviews dive deep into a variety of topics including mental health, masculinity, grief, divorce  and what it truly means to be a dad in the bush, all while challenging outdated outdated farming stereotypes.

Father Land is proudly supported again by Nutrien Ag Solutions, returning as presenting partner for Season Two.

“At Nutrien Ag Solutions, we know family and community are the backbone of farming. Father Land is a platform for rural dads to share their experiences, challenges, and successes through meaningful conversations about what life is like on the land.”

“We’re proud to once again support the Father Land podcast as it explores the wellbeing and resilience of our rural communities,” Nutrien Ag Solutions Managing Director, Adrian Capogreco, said.

Father Land is a call to break the silence and create a better future for the men helping raise the next generation in rural Australia. It's honest. It's overdue. And it's about time.

The eight-part series returns Friday 4 September 2026 - two days ahead of Father's Day (Sunday 6 September)  and will run for eight consecutive weeks on the Motherland Australia podcast channel, available on all major podcast platforms.
