Dog lovers are set to snap up the ultimate pet bargains next weekend, with the Brisbane Dog Lovers Festival delivering one of the biggest dog shopping experiences Queensland has ever seen, alongside an action-packed weekend of canine entertainment.

Taking over the Brisbane Showgrounds on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May, the Festival’s bustling Dog Expo will feature more than 100 dog loving brands, offering exclusive event-only deals across nutrition, treats, toys, accessories and the latest pet innovations. From must-have essentials to goodies, it’s the perfect opportunity for pet owners to stock up and spoil their four-legged friends!

After a two-year hiatus, the Festival returns bigger and better than ever, transforming the Showgrounds precinct into a canine playground with an expanded footprint spanning the iconic Ekka Showbag Pavilion, Woodchop Arena and Sideshow Alley, alongside exciting new outdoor zones.

At the heart of the festival, is a supersized program featuring a record number of dogs, with more than 30 breeds showcased through the official Breed Showcase, supported by Dogs Queensland. From family favourites like Golden Retrievers, Labradors and Beagles to rare and remarkable breeds such as the Borzoi, Peruvian Hairless Dog and Yakutian Laika, this is a rare opportunity to get up close with an incredible variety of dogs and connect directly with trusted breeders and experts.

Across the weekend, the much-loved Festival attractions return, including the ever-popular VitaPet Arena, where audiences will be treated to high-energy demonstrations and appearances from leading dog experts and personalities including Dr Katrina Warren, Kelly Gill and The Wonderdogs, Brooke Ellis, Lara Shannon and stars of ABC’s Muster Dogs.

The Festival’s outdoor expansion unlocks an exciting new dimension for 2026, with the introduction of a dedicated arena showcasing dogs in action, through dog sledding and flyball. Making its Australian debut is the fast-paced sport of Scurry Dog, bringing gun-dog style challenges into a fun and accessible format for everyday dogs, adding a thrilling new highlight to the program.

For those looking to connect more deeply, the heartwarming Adoption Zone will link visitors with rescue groups and dogs seeking loving homes, while the ever-popular Pat-A-Pooch experience invites guests to enjoy some quality time with a wide range of friendly dogs.

Festival Director Paul Mathers said excitement is reaching fever pitch as Brisbane prepares to welcome the Festival back in its boldest form yet.

“We’re just over a week away from bringing Brisbane the biggest and most exciting Dog Lovers Festival we’ve ever delivered,” he said.

“This new format allows us to create a true festival environment where visitors can explore indoor and outdoor experiences, meet incredible dogs and discover everything they need for their pets all in one place.

“With more dogs, more attractions and more opportunities to connect than ever before, this is set to be an unforgettable weekend for every dog lover.”
