After a hugely successful event last year, Bridgeward Grove Olives & Art is proud to announce the 4th Annual Free as a Bird Fiesta & Friends, taking place on Sunday 26 October 2026, from 12pm to 4pm.

Timed to coincide with the finale of this years’ BirdLife Australia’s Aussie Bird Count Week, the Fiesta is a vibrant, family friendly day celebrating the birdlife and biodiversity of our region.

The area surrounding Bridgeward Grove is home to an impressive variety of species, and visitors to the Fiesta will be celebrating in the heart of bird country. Local sightings include New Holland Honeyeaters feasting on Grevilleas, Wattlebirds, Flame Robins, Superb Fairywrens, Shining Bronze Cuckoos, Golden Whistlers, Blue faced Honeyeaters, Sacred Ibis, Egrets, and White faced Herons.

The Fiesta will also showcase the fine works of local artists inspired by the bird kingdom. Exhibitors include:

Photographers - Felicity Johnson, Matt McCoy, Darryl Kirby, Mal Whitehead, Avery Barnett Darcy, Rob Lee and Adam Elkman – each bringing a unique lens on birdlife, from the Wellsford State Forest to the night sky.

Painters & Illustrators - Robyn Clarke and Coryn Tonkin specialising in exquisitely detailed drawings that capture the colours, textures, and spirit of wildlife.

Printmaker & Author Bridget Farmer- known for her bird inspired illustrations and childrens books that inspire the next generation of bird lovers.

The day will also feature:

  • Bird attracting plants for sale to bring biodiversity into your backyard

  • Expert birdwatching tips and tricks from Bendigo Birdwatching Group

  • Mini market with stalls and exhibitions, all inspired by the bird kingdom

  • Delicious food and drink, including mezze plates featuring Bridgeward Grove’s mouth watering produce, a sausage sizzle, and a licensed bar

“This event is about celebrating birds in all their forms through the joy of spotting them in the trees, encouraging them into our gardens, or experiencing the creativity they inspire in local artists,” say hosts Julie and Peter of Bridgeward Grove.

Free as a Bird Fiesta & Friends is set to be a colourful day of nature, art, and community connection.
