A note for editors, writers, JOURNALISTS, TRAVELLERS, FOODIES, ADVENTURERS, LUXE SEEKERS, AND THOSE CURIOUS …….
The Scenic Rim has always been beautiful. Now it’s becoming unforgettable.
Today marks the launch of the region’s first official Visitor Guide in almost eight years, and honestly, what’s happened in those eight years is extraordinary. Images and video here
At a time when travellers are looking for meaningful escapes closer to home, places that offer connection, nature, adventure, food, wellness and space to breathe, the Scenic Rim has emerged as one of Australia’s most exciting regional tourism destinations.
The numbers tell part of the story. In 2025, the region welcomed more than 787,000 day visitors and almost half a million overnight visitors, contributing more than $217 million to the local economy and supporting over 1,200 jobs across tourism, hospitality, food, events and accommodation.
But the real story is what’s happened on the ground. Eight years ago, the region wasn’t known as a luxury escape destination and now it’s home to extraordinary eco cabins, wellness retreats, vineyard stays and some of Queensland’s most sought-after accommodation experiences.
Eight years ago, food tourism here was still emerging and now the Scenic Rim Eat Local Movement is a Queensland Tourism Awards Gold winner and one of Australia’s leading paddock-to-plate tourism success stories.
Eight years ago, the region didn’t hold ECO Destination Certification through Ecotourism Australia and now it does, alongside almost 20 certified operators leading the way in nature-based and sustainable tourism.
And perhaps most importantly, the region has achieved all of this without losing its soul.
This Visitor Guide features 100 tourism operators and experiences; from ancient World Heritage-listed rainforests and iconic stays like O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat celebrating 100 years, through to camel dairies, sunflower festivals, farm stays, distilleries, cliff-top adventures, paddock-to-plate dining experiences and some of Australia’s most awarded tourism operators.
There really is nowhere else quite like it.
The Scenic Rim is now internationally recognised for adventure tourism, eco-tourism, food tourism, wellness escapes, farm stays and events, but at its heart, it remains wonderfully grounded.
Yet it’s still the kind of place where farmers wave from paddocks, where local producers know your name, where food tells the story of the land and where visitors leave feeling better than when they arrived.
And perhaps that’s why this region continues to resonate so strongly with travellers from across Queensland, Australia and increasingly, the world. In 2026, authenticity isn’t a trend.
It’s everything.
