From pocket to wall: MSI brings its hit EV charger home

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — 16 September 2026 — MSI EVSE, the electric vehicle supply equipment division of global technology manufacturer MSI, today launched the Eco Series wall charger in Australia. Building on the EZgo portable charger, which won a loyal following among early EV adopters, the Eco Series brings permanent, wall-mounted charging to Australian homes with a premium feature set and commercial-grade safety. MSI offers it across Australia from 16 September 2026, with models that also suit apartments and commercial sites.

From pocket to building: a deliberate progression

The Eco Series launches with four models across two tiers, available across Australia from 16 September 2026.

The home range, Eco Life (AUD $999) and Eco Premium (Home) (AUD $1,199), deliver app-managed residential charging via the MSI aConnect app. Both models feature AutoCharge vehicle recognition: plug in the cable and charging starts instantly, no card or app tap required. The Eco Premium (Home) steps up with a 5-inch LCD display showing real-time voltage, amperage, session duration and energy delivered (kWh), giving full visibility over every session. Installers can route power from any direction using the included 7.5-metre tethered cable and three-way conduit entry for home units.

The same range also has commercial applications. The Eco Premium (Commercial) and Eco Premium Socket (Commercial) models add OCPP 1.6J networking, Modbus solar integration, optional 4G and multi-user authentication for strata, fleet and commercial sites.

All four models share the same commercial-grade build standard. EESS certified and RCM registered, IP65/IK08 rated and constructed with UL94 V-0 flame-retardant materials, each unit is backed by a three-year warranty and up to USD 5 million in lifetime product liability insurance.

Where the EZgo was designed to go anywhere, the Eco Series is designed to stay: permanently wall-mounted, network-connected and deeply integrated into the electrical and energy systems of the buildings it serves.

Built for every Australian home and site

A standout feature across the entire range: every Eco Series model supports both single-phase (7 kW) and three-phase (22 kW) power from the same unit. This adaptability is unique in the market, future-proofing installations regardless of switchboard upgrades, renovations or change of property.

Home models ship with a 7.5-metre tethered Type 2 cable and three-directional conduit entry (top, bottom or rear). Installers can route conduit from whichever direction suits the wall and switchboard position. The cable length ensures it reaches any vehicle charging port without the driver needing to reposition.


Charge smarter: off-peak, overnight, on your terms

Australia's rooftop solar boom and time-of-use tariffs have changed the economics of home charging. The Eco Series is built to help owners make the most of both, enabling users to save an estimated X% on their electricity bills by charging during off-peak hours.

Through the MSI aConnect app, home users can schedule charging for off-peak or daytime hours, so the car charges when power is cheapest. AutoCharge starts a session the moment the cable is plugged in, and the app keeps scheduling and session monitoring in the owner's hands.

For commercial and strata sites, the Eco Premium commercial models go further with full solar integration. Certified to OCPP 1.6J and Modbus-compatible, they coordinate directly with solar inverters to draw from rooftop generation throughout the day.


Safety built in, from the garage up

Charging safety matters most where people live. The Eco Series is engineered to one standard, whether it hangs in a home garage or a shared car park. It also meets Australia's National Construction Code, which has required new apartment, retail and commercial car parks to be EV-ready since 2022.

Materials matter, especially in enclosed spaces. UL94 V-0 flame-retardant construction means casing materials self-extinguish within 10 seconds under abnormal overheating, reducing fire-propagation risk in any setting.

RDC-DD leakage detection automatically cuts power if current exceeds safe thresholds. Combined with IP65/IK08 protection and up to USD 5 million in product liability cover, the Eco Series answers the safety questions that matter to homeowners and building managers alike.

Already in use across Australia

The Eco Series is already in the field. At Sierra Hawthorn in Victoria, the country's largest EV-enabled residential building, a showcase Eco Series installation is live on site. NOX Energy delivered the 241-apartment project with a $1.5 million ARENA grant, and MSI supplied the charging hardware.

It is also giving everyday drivers somewhere to charge. At Scorptec's Clayton store in Melbourne, Eco Premium chargers let customers top up while they shop, with NOX Energy providing the convenience for visitors.
