Addition of civil engineering and seven specialties enables GBP K.K. to serve as primary contractor for solar, data centre, and battery storage projects

GBP K.K., a Japanese engineering company specialising in energy infrastructure, has expanded its Special Construction Business Licence portfolio, adding civil engineering and seven additional specialties effective April 2, 2026. The expansion enables GBP K.K. to serve as primary contractor for the complete scope of solar power plant, data centre, and battery storage projects — including civil and landscaping works that previously required separate contractors.

A Growing Demand for Integrated Project Delivery

As renewable energy and critical infrastructure projects grow in scale and complexity, asset owners and developers increasingly require a single contractor capable of managing every phase of construction, from site preparation through to equipment installation. Civil and landscaping works — including foundation piling, access roads, drainage systems, and perimeter fencing — are integral to all three project types but have historically been procured separately from electrical and mechanical scopes.

GBP K.K.'s expanded licence coverage directly addresses this demand, consolidating civil and equipment installation works under a single point of accountability.

Scope of Civil Works Coverage

GBP K.K. can now manage the full civil scope across solar, data centre, and battery storage projects. For solar installations, this includes perimeter fencing, panel foundation piling, access roads, and drainage systems. For data centres, GBP K.K. covers security fencing, heavy vehicle access paving, concrete foundations, and cooling tower water supply infrastructure. For battery storage facilities, the scope extends to container foundation works, automated gate installation, flood mitigation earthworks, and sprinkler system connections.
