- 1884 people under age 50 are diagnosed with bowel cancer each year (11.7%).
- Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer.
- Bowel Cancer is 99% treatable if detected in the earliest stage.
- 5,372 lives lost to bowel cancer each year.
- 163,000+ Australians living with or beyond bowel cancer.
- 53.2% of people diagnosed with bowel cancer are men and 46.8% of people diagnosed with bowel cancer are women.
- Bowel cancer is the deadliest cancer for people aged 25-54.
- Australia now has the highest rates of early-onset (under age 50) bowel cancer in the world.
- You are never too young for bowel cancer. Australian research found younger people may spend between 3 months and 5 years seeing multiple doctors before diagnosis.
- The risk of diagnosis before the age of 40 has more than doubled since the year 2000.
