Helping Orange Pilots Put Control Back Into Flying at Non-Controlled Aerodromes

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) invites pilots of all licence categories to attend an upcoming pilot safety seminar in Orange, New South Wales on Wednesday evening.

Each year, CASA’s aviation safety advisors host free seminars across Australia to help pilots refresh their skills, enhance their knowledge and improve flight safety.

All pilots know operating around a non-controlled aerodrome can be hazardous. The ‘Non-controlled aerodromes: Manage Your Risk’ seminar, will focus on hazards when operating in the vicinity of Orange aerodrome.

Aviation safety advisor, Tim Penney, says flying into non-controlled aerodromes poses its own hazards and risks for pilots.  

‘At the seminar, we’ll spend time discussing radio calls, procedures, pre-flight planning and supporting systems in your aircraft that can help pilots manage the risks and fly safely into and out of non-controlled aerodromes,’ he says. 

‘These seminars offer pilots of all experience levels the chance to refresh their knowledge, avoid common errors, and apply lessons learned from case studies and discussions to their own flying. 

‘We encourage pilots of all levels to attend these free seminars, as they also provide a great opportunity to engage with CASA, discuss local issues and ask questions.’
