Hobart hosts Australia’s largest preventive health conference to share ways to stop people getting sick
More than 400 experts will gather in Nipaluna / Hobart this week to share their latest research about various actions which prevent people from getting sick, thereby easing pressure on hospitals and ambulance services.
The Preventive Health Conference runs 5 – 7 May and is organised by the peak body the Public Health Association of Australia.

Tasmania-based experts available for interview about their studies include:
Amy Coates (UTas) - Dementia risk reduction strategies for socioeconomically disadvantaged Tasmanians: an implementation science approach;
Prof Verity Cleland (UTas) - Empowering rural communities to measure walkability: Co-development of a digital tool;
Isis Loos (Menzies Institute For Medical Research) - Investigating rural walkability for older people and people with disability in Tasmania;
Dr Kim Jose (UTas) - Community and place-based approaches, a study which links to the evaluation of Tasmania’s current preventive health strategy.
