HORSHAM: TIME TO DECIDE TO FLY SAFELY

Civil Aviation Safety Authority

Pilots need to make effective decisions before, during and even after a flight.

Making the right calls when flying is critical and poor decision-making is a leading cause of accidents for anyone who flies for fun.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is targeting decision-making in its latest aviation safety seminar to help pilots make the right call at the right time for a safer flight.

Aviation safety advisor, Shaun Holmes, says the free seminars explore how pilots make decisions, as well as key considerations pre-flight and in-flight.

‘Pilots need to make effective decisions before, during and even after a flight,’ Shaun says.

‘Different types of decisions have different impacts in the cockpit, plus there are a range of factors that affect a pilot’s thinking and actions.’

‘By the end of the session, pilots of all experience levels will gain practical tips to improve their decision making and help them operate safely.’

A Bureau of Meteorology forecaster will be a special guest at the session to present on forecasting and local weather conditions and to answer any questions.

Each year, CASA’s aviation safety advisors host free seminars across Australia to help pilots refresh their skills, enhance their knowledge, and improve flight safety.

Everyone is welcome, from novices to experienced pilots, and refreshments are provided. Book your spot online now.
