HSU Allied Health Members to Oppose Second Vote on Public Sector Enterprise Agreement

Health Services Union SA/NT

The Health Services Union SA/NT (HSU), representing Allied Health Professionals and Medical Scientists, has been negotiating a new Enterprise Agreement with the Finocchiaro Government for more than nine months. After voting down their first offer, the NT Government referred the matter to the Fair Work Commission.

The NT Government is now putting the Enterprise Agreement back out to vote with only an additional 1% in wages and an offer that remains less than what police have received.

Allied Health covers a wide range of professions, including physiotherapists, radiographers, social workers, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, dietitians, psychologists, pathology scientists, and sonographers.

The HSU will be encouraging members to vote NO on this offer and make the Finocchiaro Government take seriously the needs of workers. If this offer is accepted, it would lead to a worsening of our health services, which will not be able to keep up with demand as workers leave for better-paying jobs interstate. The Territory will remain the lowest-paying public sector for many health professionals.

Allied Health will be walking off the job across every major hospital in the Territory on Wednesday 3 December 2025. Skeleton staffing will remain to ensure that essential services can continue. Further information to be provided.

Quotes attributable to HSU SA/NT Branch Secretary, Billy Elrick:

“Allied Health are going to fall behind the rest of Australia. If we don’t pay our Allied Health Professionals a competitive wage, they will leave for interstate.”

“The Finocchiaro Government is ignoring the risks they’re creating by not paying Territory’s health professionals a better wage. The health system will continue to literally and figuratively fall down on their watch.”

“The HSU is prepared to meet with Territory government representatives urgently to find a deal that works for everyone.”

“If the Finocchiaro Government keeps ignoring Allied Health, they will need to increase their industrial action to remind the government of their value to the system.”

“The HSU is preparing for strike action Wednesday 3 December 2025. Skeleton staffing will remain to ensure that essential services can continue.”
