Key Facts:
  • Over 250 candidates attended a Walk-In Interviews event competing for 35 positions, replacing traditional hiring processes with 60-second pitches
  • The event featured immediate, live interviews with successful candidates, transforming typical private recruitment into a high-pressure, public process
  • Quality of candidates exceeded expectations, making selection more challenging than anticipated
  • Format eliminated common hiring issues like ghosting and over-reliance on polished CVs
  • Following success, more walk-in hiring events are planned, with potential to influence broader recruitment practices

On Sunday, April 26, Kyle Hunt hosted a “Walk-In Interviews” event that saw more than 250 people show up, unfiltered and unvetted, to compete for just 35 roles. No drawn out application process. No weeks of back and forth. Just a resume in hand, a 60-second pitch and the chance to prove it on the spot.

What happened next surprised even him.

“I will never do the traditional hiring process again,” Hunt said. “You can’t tell who someone is from a PDF. Yesterday proved that. The people who stood out weren’t the ones with the cleanest resumes - they were the ones who could walk in, own the room and actually back themselves.”

Candidates were brought through in waves, pitching directly to Hunt and his team before being pulled into immediate, deeper interviews if they showed potential. The entire process played out live, fast and in front of other applicants - turning what’s normally a private, slow moving system into something closer to a high pressure audition.

And the quality? Unexpectedly high.

“There were so many solid candidates it actually made hiring harder,” Hunt said. “We came in expecting to filter people out. Instead, we were trying to figure out how to fit more people in.”

The event didn’t just fill roles - it challenged the logic of how hiring is supposed to work. No ghosting. No overthinking. No hiding behind polished applications.

Just showing up.

Hunt says this won’t be a one off. More walk-in hiring days are already being planned, with the format likely to expand - and potentially influence how other founders approach recruitment in a market where resumes are increasingly seen as outdated.

“This is what hiring should feel like,” he said. “Real people, real energy, real decisions.”
