Independent Australian government trial confirms k-ID’s readiness for deployment under upcoming enforcement deadlines with a top-level grading

SINGAPORE--BUSINESS WIRE--

k-ID, the global compliance platform transforming age-appropriate digital experiences for young people, today welcomed the findings of the Australian Government’s landmark Age Assurance Technology Trial, which identified k-ID as a leading provider of parental consent solutions ready for nationwide deployment.

Commissioned in January 2025, the independent Trial evaluated a wide range of age assurance and online safety technologies against criteria including interoperability, reliability, usability, privacy protection, bias mitigation, and human-rights compliance.

Key findings for k-ID:

  • Achieved the maximum Technology Readiness Level (TRL 9), confirming deployment readiness in Australia
  • Passed every testing scenario
  • Demonstrated privacy-by-design, data minimisation, and industry-leading security controls
  • Adapts to the evolving capacities of children with automatic age progression and the use of age-appropriate interfaces and language

The official test report also states:

“The system's purpose is to empower and protect children and teens by enabling age-appropriate access to online services while supporting global compliance with age-related regulations.”

“k-ID’s Family Connect enables lawful and privacy-respecting parental consent and oversight. They ensure digital experiences align with users' developmental stages and applicable legal requirements across 200+ jurisdictions.”

“We are proud to have contributed to the Australian Government’s rigorous trial of the latest online child safety solutions,” said Kieran Donovan, CEO of k-ID. “These findings show that practical, scalable technologies exist today to uphold privacy and safeguard young users. We are no longer held back by technological limitations and the time to act is now.”

The Trial, managed by the Age Check Certification Scheme, represents the world’s largest independent evaluation of age assurance technologies. Its findings will inform policymakers and regulators shaping upcoming safety requirements, including Australia’s proposed social media restrictions for under-16s.
