“I remember watching KOOZA and being completely drawn to the Trickster,” Mitch said. “There was something about the energy, the movement and the way he connected the entire show together. I never imagined that one day I would be the person bringing him to life.”

As a 15-year-old ballet student in Brisbane, Mitch watched a video of Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA and was transfixed by one character: The Trickster. Mysterious, magnetic, and larger than life, The Trickster appears like magic, guiding audiences through one of Cirque du Soleil’s most spectacular worlds. Mitch didn’t just dream of meeting him, he dreamt of becoming him and now, more than a decade later, that dream has travelled around the world, and this August, it comes home, home to Brisbane. Since joining the production, Mitch has performed the role across the globe, captivating audiences with the character’s signature charisma, energy and magic. Now, he will perform it in front of family, friends and hometown audiences.

“It’s incredibly special to bring KOOZA to Queensland,” Mitch said. “This is where I grew up, where I trained, and where that dream started. To walk onto that stage at home as the Trickster is a full circle moment.”

One of Cirque du Soleil's most daring touring productions, KOOZA takes audiences on an emotional ride through nail-biting, mind-boggling acrobatics, balancing strength and fragility, laughter and tension, as it explores themes of fear, identity, recognition and power.

Since its debut in 2007, KOOZA has mesmerized more than 10 million spectators across 5,500 performances in 71 cities and 23 countries. The production features an international cast of 53 artists from 25 different nationalities, including six live musicians and two singers performing live at every show. The soundtrack blends 1970s funk, orchestral arrangements and traditional Indian music, all performed live each night.
