Landmark Chinatown gates given new lease of life

WHAT: The historic gates in the heart of Chinatown have been restored.  

Designed using traditional Chinese materials and ornamentation, this event marks the completion of extensive upgrades to the landmark archways on Dixon Street in Haymarket.

DATE: Saturday 14 June 2025 

TIME: 12.30pm  

WHERE: The event will start at the northern gate, corner of Goulburn Street and Dixon Street Mall, Haymarket  

There will be lion dancing and a performance by DanceKool at the event.  

The architect who worked with the community to design the gates Hon Henry Tsang OAM will be in attendance, along with other original members of the Dixon Street Chinese Committee from the 1970s and their families.
