Libs must be allowed to speak about abortion says Family First
Family First
Family First condemns the Liberals for gagging its members from speaking up for the human rights of unborn babies.
South Australian leader Vincent Tarzia this week followed Peter Dutton and Queensland LNP leader David Crisafulli in banning his MPs from talking about even the abortion-to-birth laws that are now in place throughout the nation.
Family First National Director Lyle Shelton said the party would always fight for unborn babies and their mothers after it re-formed in South Australia in 2022 when the Liberals under Stephen Marshall introduced abortion-to-birth.
“Given a proper debate about abortion starting with the grisly practices whistle blower midwives like Louise Adsett are revealing around late-term abortion, Australians can be persuaded,” Mr Shelton said.
“When given all the evidence, we are a compassionate people.”
“It’s ridiculous for Tarzia to blame Ben Hood’s “born alive” bill for the party’s trouncing at the weekend’s Black by-election when it was a drugs scandal and months of leadership in-fighting which turned the voters off, not trying to save late-term babies.
“Blaming advocacy to stop lethel injections of babies post 28 weeks for a by-election loss is like Nero blaming the Christians for the fire he lit in Rome,” Mr Shelton said.
“As former Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson says, ‘you can’t get good policy from a bad debate’.
“You certainly won’t get good policy from a gagged debate,” Mr Shelton said.
“Liberal founder Sir Robert Menzies would be rolling in his grave.”
Mr Shelton encouraged pro-life citizens to join Family First.
Family First has endorsed Senate candidates for the up-coming federal election in NSW, Victoria and SA and the party is actively recruiting lower house candidates.
