SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: On Thursday 10 September 2026, from 10am – 11am, 15 young women will transform Black Market Coffee’s Marrickville café for a one-hour pop-up event, serving free coffee to the public alongside vegan cakes, scrolls and pastries from Sydney bakery Miss Sina.

This unique café takeover marks the culmination of 'From the Ground Up,' an intensive hospitality training and employment pathway program delivered by Black Market Training in partnership with Youth Off The Streets and Mr Jobs. After a week of hands-on training, the participants are ready to showcase their new skills.

This takeover isn't just about free coffee; it's a prime opportunity for Sydney's café and restaurant owners to witness firsthand the capabilities of these budding hospitality professionals and discover their next great hire. We invite the community to come down, enjoy a free coffee, and support these young women as they gain invaluable real-world experience.

Miss Sina, a valued Black Market Coffee wholesale partner, will offer its delicious vegan cakes, scrolls and pastries for purchase during the event.

 

From Training to a Real Job

The 'From the Ground Up' program is designed to equip young women with practical skills, confidence, and industry experience essential for employment in Australia’s vibrant hospitality sector. Participants receive intensive barista training from Black Market Training, preparing them for the demands of a busy café environment.

This takeover is the final, practical step, moving skills from the training room to real customer service. Crucially, the program actively connects participants with potential employers.
