Go Gentle’s founder Andrew Denton and CEO Dr Linda Swan will give an overview of how VAD laws are operating across Australia and examine the context and intention behind the proposed amendments to Victoria’s Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2017.

Panel discussions will hear insights from VAD doctors and families about the limitations of the current legislation and why there is an urgent need to remove barriers to access for eligible terminally ill people.

Key amendments to be discussed:
- Remove the ‘gag clause’ to allow health professionals to have open discussions about VAD
- Objecting health professionals to provide patients with contact details for VAD services
- Change the prognosis requirement to 12 months for eligible conditions
- Update residency requirements
