And celebration of the Celtic Fest which happens that weekend!
WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 1 at 9.30am at Warwick Arena
In four weeks, the best cowboys and cowgirls from across the country, and the best horse and cattle stock nationally, will converge on Warwick for a buckle battle of the ages – the famous Ariat Warwick Rodeo and Pryde's EasiFeed Gold Cup Campdraft.
MEDIA ARE INVITED to the official launch of this legendary event on Wednesday October 1, at 9.30am at Warwick Arena.
Warwick is recognised around the world as Australia’s most famous rodeo and campdraft, and here’s why: the champions return year after year to defend their titles, to test themselves against the nation’s toughest stock, and to send the dust flying. This year will be even bigger, with 2024 champions returning and facing a rising tide of challengers. From the championship campdraft to the bulls, broncs and barrel racers, it promises a true spectacle in the arena, the laneway and out of the chutes.
PLUS AT THE MEDIA CALL, and in a show of regional solidarity: the CELTIC FEST (Oct 3 to 5 – that coming weekend) will represent with Highland Cow, Bagpiper and a spokesperson.

AT THE LAUNCH:
IN addition to invited guests, sponsors, Queensland Country and Council representatives, the following riders and leaders in Rodeo and Campdraft:-
- Michael Maher — Australian Bronc Rider (saddle bronc and roughriding): Michael one of Australia’s top rodeo riders in saddle bronc, calf and team roping, being the only bronc rider to have won the famous Mt Isa buckle three years in a row, and the only rider to win Mt Isa and Warwick Rodeo in the same year. He’s represented Australia in the USA, and is the son-in-law of Australian rodeo legend, Daryl Joe Kong.
- Eddie Gill - Fifth-generation rodeo identity and one of Australia’s most prominent stock contractors, Eddie runs Gill Bros Rodeo with his family, supplying world-class bulls and broncs to rodeos across the country. He’s recognised as part of a legendary rodeo dynasty that has shaped Australian rodeo for more than a century.
- Lorna Fanning - Campdraft Announcer: With 45 years behind the microphone for the Warwick Gold Cup, Lorna’s voice is legend. She’s been deeply involved with the Australian Stock Horse Society since the 1970s, serving as President, Secretary, Treasurer and Chair of the national board and is on the Australian Campdraft Association Honour Roll.
- Allan Flood: Warwick cowboy and true all-rounder, Allan competes in rope and tie, team roping, bull riding and steer wrestling. He first hit the APRA National Finals in the 1970s, going head-to-head with legends like Tom Kenny in the bull ride and made history by qualifying in multiple events in the same year, cementing his reputation as one of the sport’s most versatile riders.
- Jack Capewell: Six-time NRA Saddle Bronc Champion and former NRA All Round Cowboy, Jack is a fierce competitor, known for his spirit and technique.
Ariat Warwick Rodeo and Pryde's EasiFeed Gold Cup Campdraft

Known as the ‘Melbourne Cup’ of campdrafting, the Warwick Gold Cup celebrates a sport born from Australia’s legendary stockmen and women, making it the nation’s most prestigious event of its kind, and drawing more riders and prize money than any other. With a $370,000 prize pool, bespoke saddles, gleaming trophies, and an array of awards, it’s long been regarded as the Australian Championship Campdraft, where the best of the best go head-to-head with the finest stock in the country. Then add a world class rodeo!! The Warwick Gold Cup runs alongside the legendary Warwick Rodeo, where the nation’s top cowboys take on champion broncs and bucking bulls. Today, this combined celebration of skill, grit, and heritage draws more than 30,000 spectators, with competitors and horses travelling from every mainland state to be part of the action.
