MEDIA INVITATION: ROCKHAMPTON, EMERALD AND GLADSTONE
This Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

 

WHY: there is an urgent need for foster carers across the region.

 

As of June 2026 there were 2,149 children living away from home in home- based care in the Sunshine Coast/Central QLD region, but only 1,243 approved carer families. HOWEVER, in just 15 weeks, another 10 Queensland households are now close to being authorised as foster carers, ready to open their homes to children and young people who urgently need somewhere safe, stable and nurturing AND a further 60 prospective carers have completed their training and are progressing through assessment with MacKillop Family Services, one of Australia’s most experienced child and family welfare organisations.

 

** This Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Mackillop Family Services is visiting Rockhampton, Emerald and Gladstone with an open invitation for community groups, interested people and fellow carers to come and join for an important conversation.

 

MEDIA ARE INVITED IN EACH TOWN -

  • Rockhampton = Mon 2nd Nov , Boathouse 189 Quay Street 9am - 11.30am
  • Emerald = Tues 3rd Nov 10am - Midday Emerald Golf Club
  • Gladstone = Wed 4th November, Flavours Marina, Bryan Jordan Drive 9am - 11.30am 

 

Media support is vital to tell the stories of great foster carers, explain who can foster, and the types of foster care can be there is.
